Off the Shelf: Blonote

Summary: Every day, Tablo shared short messages with his listeners. The topics of the messages covered everything from family, friends, hectic daily routines, relationships, and much more. The book is filled with personal messages handwritten by famous musicians, movie directors, comedians, models, designers, and DJs among many others.

Recently I’ve been gravitating towards shorter free verse poetry style books, and Blonote certainly fits. It is a collection of random thoughts and sayings that shows the ups and downs of life. The inner dialogue style is one that you will easily relate to whether you feel like you’re an over-thinker or someone who finds comfort in words.

This book isn’t like others. It is random, sometimes doesn’t make sense, and each page has only short lines like fragmented thoughts, but I think that’s what I like about the book. In life, we expect perfect communication and poetic lines full of meaning in each precise word, so sometimes we can forget how often the most relatable things are created from random lines of thought. This book shows the origin of creativity and being thought provoking to inspire you to contemplate your own thoughts on life in an enjoyable and encouraging manner.

Blonote is styled in a way to read at your own pace. You could read it all in a day, or pick it up and read sections at a time. The author even states in the opening that it is a book written for days where you can randomly pick it up to find comfort among its pages, and I have to agree with that. So if you’re looking for a book that is poetic but not in an overly complicated way, and shares thoughts on life, then this may be a book you would want to check out.
